Another way to customize the look of your table is with the top shape.  In addition to traditional rectangular and round table tops, we also offer oval and racetrack tops.  What’s that?  A racetrack table top has curved ends and straight sides whereas an oval top is curved on all sides.  As with table bases, it is important to consider form with functionality!  In addition to shape and size, all of our table tops come in standard (about 1″), thick (about 1.5- 1.75″) and extra thick (+2″) thicknesses.  Do you need an extra large table, a very narrow table or an odd shape?  All of table lengths, widths and shapes are customizable.  Just ask us if you don’t see the exact size you are looking for!

Learning from the ideas of other woodworkers, while avoiding their mistakes is an excellent way to design and set-up your own shop layout. Setting up a woodworking shop as a hobby place, or for a some one more serious, who even may venture off into some sort of woodworking business; is not as easy as it might sound. Knowing the correct steps to follow will save you time and money, but it will also save you a lot of stress down the road.
Choose a light-colored wood with interesting grain for the ball. It should be one solid piece, 2 1⁄2- to 3-in. square. I like to make more than one ornament at a time, so I use a rough blank about 8-in. long in order to make two balls. Make the cap and icicle from a contrasting dark wood that takes fine details. I like to use rosewood or ebony. You’ll need a piece that’s 1-in. square and 8-in. long.

Everything is fairly described as diagrams, images, the list of supplies and tools need etc. The process to this plan is very easy to understand and follow for if you are having some basic woodworking knowledge. Make sure to collect all the supplies you need before you start with the project. You may even ask any question directly in the comment section of the tutorial post and also comment the images of your final product if you have completed it. Begin by cutting off a 10-in. length of the board and setting it aside. Rip the remaining 38-in. board to 6 in. wide and cut five evenly spaced saw kerfs 5/8 in. deep along one face. Crosscut the slotted board into four 9-in. pieces and glue them into a block, being careful not to slop glue into the saw kerfs (you can clean them out with a knife before the glue dries). Saw a 15-degree angle on one end and screw the plywood piece under the angled end of the block.
Moving up to the next level, the next machine to get would be a jointer planer. A jointer planer is very important if you want to glue up pieces of wood side-by-side to make panels. It's just plain all around handy for planing stock. I'd recommend you get a jointer planer before you get a thickness planer, because there is so much more that can be done with a jointer than a thickness planer. A thickness planer is really handy to get stock to the right thickness, although in a pinch, that can also be done on the table saw by putting the workpiece between the fence and the blade. If you cut from both sides, you can thickness stock up to twice the maximum depth of cut of your table saw.
To inset the aprons 3/4" from the outer surface of the legs I made a spacer from 2 pieces of plywood.  This little jig made it easy to keep the distances uniform and also secure the apron to the leg while fastening.  Pic 3 illustrates how the jig, apron and leg are clamped together for fastening.  Each apron end is held by three 2 1/2" pocket screws.  The pocket holes were made using a Kreg pocket hole jig.  I assembled the short ends first and then the rest of the table base making sure the kerf (for clips) was along the top edge.  Since this is a long table I also added a cross piece in the middle of the table using pocket screws.
