All of our tables are available in the color and finish of your choice.  Our existing color pallet includes 90 paint colors,  multiple stain color options in each workshop collection and several wax color options for our reclaimed woods.  Please feel free to explore all of our paint and stain options to help guide your design plans.  All of paint and stain finishes include a durable water based clear top coat.  This makes it easier to keep the table top clean with a damp sponge (no chemicals!) and provides protection from water rings. (How to Clean a Wooden Dining Table)
This particular tray is made using reclaimed barn wood but the author of the project Beyond The Picket Fence surprised everyone with one fact: reclaimed barn wood has often some areas turned pink due to cow urine. If you check the project more closely, you’ll also notice some areas of the tray being almost bright pink. That’s something you don’t see every day!

From my point of view, I think this is really a different project because normally you will find only one wooden item like a chair, or a table, but in this project, you will find two wooden items. The combination of table and chair is really beneficial for me. I wanted to try something different project from my daily routine life and here in this image, you will find the full-size image of this project so you came to know that I am successful in making chair plus table project.

Build this handy stool in one hour and park it in your closet. You can also use it as a step to reach the high shelf. All you need is a 4 x 4-ft. sheet of 3/4-in. plywood, wood glue and a handful of 8d finish nails. Cut the plywood pieces according to the illustration. Spread wood glue on the joints, then nail them together with 8d finish nails. First nail through the sides into the back. Then nail through the top into the sides and back. Finally, mark the location of the two shelves and nail through the sides into the shelves. Don’t have floor space to spare? Build these super simple wall-mounted shoe organizers instead!
To corral shelf-dwelling books or DVDs that like to wander, cut 3/4-in.-thick hardwood pieces into 6-in. x 6-in. squares. Use a band saw or jigsaw to cut a slot along one edge (with the grain) that’s a smidgen wider than the shelf thickness. Stop the notch 3/4 in. from the other edge. Finish the bookend and slide it on the shelf. Want to build the shelves, too? We’ve got complete plans for great-looking shelves here.
Using shelving in your room or kitchen is a great way to arrange and de-clutter space… I know, such ground-breaking term it is. Do not write me off yet, I just want to show you how you can build some clean floating corner shelving that appears to have no brackets. You can create them at no cost, and the hardest part of the plan is figuring out what you are going to put on these shelves when you are finished.
There are different grades of tools available at different prices. Salesmen will probably tell you to get good quality tools that last a lifetime. But the price difference between a cheap tool and a good quality tool can easily be a factor of four. My advice is to get cheap tools first and use them until they break. Once they break, it's time to consider getting something better. But unless you are a professional who uses the tools every day, even a cheap tool is likely to last a long time.
If your space is very limited in your living or kitchen, you will love this farmhouse table design which can also be used as a kitchen island. This feature makes it perfect for keeping it in the kitchen space. If you have some woodworking skills, consider making pocket holes without adding 2×2 supports as in the original plan which saves both money and time. In this process, you will not have to drill or cut more holes, and all the screw holes can be hidden providing a better finish.
I recently came across this beautiful wooden hanging swing, which was made in the square shape. The very first look was enough for me to start loving it. Although I haven’t yet tried building one myself, I am definitely going to. You can also make one for elders and put it in your garden or terrace or anywhere in the house. Elders can use it to relax and the kids can use it to play or sleep. Although this is a really beautiful piece of woodwork, it is not that easy to make. Only someone with good woodworking skill can think of making this swing set.
You're going to connect the two leg–apron assemblies to the stretchers using cross lap joints. These are among the easiest and most forgiving of wood joints to make, and they're also quite sturdy. Mark the joint positions on the legs and stretchers. Start the half-lap joints on the legs by notching the two outside lines with a circular saw set to a depth of 1½ inches. Guide the saw using a triangular rafter square. Between the two outside cuts make a series of relief cuts spaced ⅛ inch apart (fig. 3). Then use a sharp chisel to chop away the waste (fig. 4). When you cut the half-lap joints on the short stretcher, set the saw's depth to 1⅜ inches deep. This will make the stretcher extend ⅝ inch past the surface of the leg when the table is finally assembled. The offset will give you a table that looks like it was built by a farmer rather than by West Elm. It'll look nice.
Hand Sanders are the simplest and cheapest sanding you can do and will likely work well for most small projects. You buy the hand sander which is a plate with a handle (typically ~$5) and then attach pieces of sandpaper to the bottom. The biggest advantage to a hand sander is it’s very cheap. It does take a bit of time, but you can achieve a perfectly acceptable finish with it.
How amazing to have the earrings which are very elegant looking. I just came across these earrings online with wood and you can see the designs inside it. If you wear these earrings on the parties, your personality would become attractive. Now, don’t buy expensive earrings for parties.Have a look at the image and you would find it great to make them.
Love the table! My husband and I are looking to build a table for our dining room. We love this table but I am having a hard time convincing him that people can still easily sit at the ends of the table even though there are support boards on the bottom. He seems to think that will get in the way (even though you clearly show your husband sitting on the end in one of the pictures 🙂 ) Can you tell me if it is a problem for those sitting on the end? Thank you!!
You guys did a great job – and I love that it was a family project! Your boys will probably remember that for the rest of their lives and enjoy sitting at the table because of it! I’ve been trying to convince my husband that I need to make us a nice table for our new house but he’s being stubborn… I’m going to show him your pictures so he can see how awesome it would be! Great job on your blog! I have one too where I talk about all my projects! 🙂

A good friend celebrated a milestone birthday this year, and since he’s a real wine afficionado, I wanted to give him a few very nice bottles of wine presented in a special way. I’ve seen expensive vintage wines sold in wooden presentation boxes, but I wanted to make something that’s well beyond the ordinary. So I designed a box that presents the wine bottles by “popping them up” as the lid is opened.

Hand saws are a good option for making quick cuts that don’t need to be perfectly straight. They do take some muscle as they are non-powered, but are perfect for a quick job. The downside to hand-saws is you will need a different saw for each type of material you need to cut, so if you’re trying to cut wood and sheet metal, that’s an additional cost.

Having swing in your own home, yard or garden can be so de-stressing and be relaxing a thing to enjoy, that doesn’t matter you have a big yard or patio, or vacant porch. Kids will surely fall in love with this swing porch and love playing on a breezy day. Even, adults also do relax and enjoy a quite morning coffee, or just being embraced by the sun in the swing.
Per usual, I used pocket screws to fasten the table top together after applying glue to the edges.  Pic 3 shows the underside of the table.  A straight edge clamp and a circular saw were used to trim the ends of the top.  The blue masking tape helps limit splintering from the saw.  To see if the table was square, I compared the diagonal measurements across the table top.  Diagonal measurements on a square or rectangle should be equal if the piece is square on all corners.  It's not very critical on a rustic, distressed table since the table's charm comes from it's imperfections.

Not every woodworking shop have sawhorses, but you'll find them a useful and versatile item to have at hand. A sawhorse can be used as a short-term table, workbench or benchtop stand, and can be use as a workbench extender or to as a temporary lumber self. Build your own sawhorses allows you to customize them to your own needs and wood shop requirements.

Table aprons are the boards that make up the sides of the table base and connect the legs.  They are also called table skirts.  Dimensions are 3 1/2" wide and 22 1/4" long across the ends and 62" long down the sides.  For a 34x72 inch table and 4x4 legs, these apron lengths inset the legs roughly 2" on all sides.  The wood is 3/4" to 1" thick rough-cut wood from our old barn.  The red color was a little stark so I sparsely brushed a coat of chalk paint on and waxed again with Briwax.
Choose a light-colored wood with interesting grain for the ball. It should be one solid piece, 2 1⁄2- to 3-in. square. I like to make more than one ornament at a time, so I use a rough blank about 8-in. long in order to make two balls. Make the cap and icicle from a contrasting dark wood that takes fine details. I like to use rosewood or ebony. You’ll need a piece that’s 1-in. square and 8-in. long.
At Cottage Home, we know purchasing custom furniture and décor on the Internet can raise some concerns and questions. We strive to make it as easy as possible for our customers to have access to custom bench-built products for their homes.
Hardware stores are full of big compound sliding miter saws. But before you buy one, ask yourself, how often do you need to cut miters on stock wider than a non sliding miter saw can handle? For the few times you have to do that, it's probably better to use a circular saw. The complicated mechanism of a compound sliding miter saw makes them bulky and less rigid. Which means an expensive compound miter saw may not make as clean a cut as you can with a table saw sled.
One of the most elegant farmhouse tables that can add to your space is this simple design. If you have a large dining space, you can make this rustic design. At least ten people can sit together at this dining table. The dimensions of this table are 96″X41″. The bench and the chairs add character to this farmhouse table. Simply, follow the instructions step by step and shop for the materials required to make this beautiful piece. Kiln-dried pine wood is recommended for this table.
Have you ever seen a knife made of wood? It is only for decoration purpose, but it can be a great gift. I hope you would like this. If you have a small space in your kitchen or living space but require a table for dining or if you are fascinated with roundtable designs, you can consider this free DIY plan form Lane Home Co. to be a great option. Not only this table looks nice but also it is very sturdy with layered centered cross base in a V-shape. You might feel the table is difficult to make, but if you have the right tools and carefully follow the instructions, you will be able to accomplish the task easily.
There's no better way to give thanks than to gather family and friends around an enormous table to share a feast. A farmhouse table would be the perfect spot. You could make one out of construction lumber and ordinary hardware in a couple of days. We're not talking precision woodworking here. If you can handle a circular saw and a chisel, you can do this. Farmers used to build these tables themselves, not furniture makers or carpenters, so it's okay if it turns out a bit rustic. That's half the fun. The other half is sitting down to eat at a table you built yourself.
Drawing inspiration from a round trestle table that was worth $3350, Rogue Engineer came up with their free DIY plan to make the table cheaper. Unexpectedly, you can make this excellent table for around $40. You may think that round tables are difficult to build, but if you have the proper tools and follow the instructions carefully as provided, you can actually make this table with ease.
Another classic game! (Are you picking up on a trend?). A cribbage board is really just a piece of wood with 240-plus holes drilled in it. This project includes files necessary to program a CNC machine to drill all the holes, but it also includes a template for boring the holes with a drill. There are endless opportunities for customizing this project with different species of wood. All this adds up to the fact that cribbage boards make great gifts.
This is really easy and simple project. The person who is entry level in wood working can easily do this by following some steps. You can use this as a decoration piece in your home. The main thing is that you need a full command for using wooden tools and machine. It depends on your taste that what style you are presenting in making alphabets. Visit this link if you want to make this project by yourself. In this link you can see how to make alphabet signs.

I love this barnwood reclaimed table-your husband did a beautiful job! We have a coffee table and two end tables (hand-me-downs) that remind me a little of this table. They each have metal legs that have criss-cross metal bars that make shelves below, and are great for holding baskets. The tops of each were pretty rough when we inherited the tables, and lately I’ve been thinking about either sanding and then white-washing the wood, and now after seeing your pictures I’m thinking more about just sanding the tops and see how they look and maybe finishing them like you did your table!? (I think I like your idea better! How many coats of Varathane did you folks use?) Thank you so much for sharing!
Initially I thought a wine rack would be a finicky project to create, with the necessity of holding the bottles at a certain angle, etc. However, this ended up being a quick, easy and fun build. The shape of the bottles lets them rest on the rack at the correct angle (which is really only important when you are going to let your wine age). The simplicity of the design also allows you to see the labels on the bottles.
To inset the aprons 3/4" from the outer surface of the legs I made a spacer from 2 pieces of plywood.  This little jig made it easy to keep the distances uniform and also secure the apron to the leg while fastening.  Pic 3 illustrates how the jig, apron and leg are clamped together for fastening.  Each apron end is held by three 2 1/2" pocket screws.  The pocket holes were made using a Kreg pocket hole jig.  I assembled the short ends first and then the rest of the table base making sure the kerf (for clips) was along the top edge.  Since this is a long table I also added a cross piece in the middle of the table using pocket screws.
I used a #00 Steel Wool and White Vinegar solution to patina the wood and give it an aged look. Put a good handful of steel wool in a jar and add white vinegar. Let the vinegar dilute the steel wool for at least 3 to 4 days. The mixture will get darker the longer you let it sit. I let mine sit for a full week. Once diluted, simply brush the mixture on your piece. Oxidation will occur as the mixture reacts with the tannins in the wood to give it variations in color. It changed the Fir wood to dark blues, greys, browns, and black. Do not use white Pine because it will not darken much at all. If you'd rather use a stain, Minwax has some great choices to choose from. A couple of my favorites are Special Walnut, Dark Walnut, Provincial, Weathered Grey, and Golden Oak.
Cut the 6-1/2-in. x 3-in. lid from the leftover board, and slice the remaining piece into 1/4-in.-thick pieces for the sides and end of the box. Glue them around the plywood floor. Cut a rabbet on three sides of the lid so it fits snugly on the box and drill a 5/8-in. hole for a finger pull. Then just add a finish and you’ve got a beautiful, useful gift. If you don’t have time to make a gift this year, consider offering to do something for the person. You could offer to sharpen their knives! Here’s how.
I think YouTube is the best place to find different tutorials. It totally depends on your choice that what shape you is selected for Dice. You can make two different shapes of wooden dice that is rounded or square. You can also put different colors in dice to show the uniqueness of DIY wooden art. Here is one more link to understand the step by step link.
After we got all our aggression out on the table, I applied a coat of Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner followed by a custom stain I came up with. I’ve purchased several “gray” stains that are supposed to give the wood a weathered, rustic look, but no matter how many coats I add, the gray barely colors the wood at all. I wanted the table to still be light enough to show all the wood grain, but have that old, weathered look to it, and this is the perfect mix I came up with:

Have you ever seen wooden slippers? These are the slippers which you can gift someone and they are very comfortable. You can make them very easily. Because these legs were salvaged they had old screw holes in them which were filled prior to painting.  In retrospect, it probably would have looked cool to just leave them.  I lightly sanded the legs with 100 & 150 grit sandpaper which smoothed them without removing all the saw marks.  One coat of chalk paint and 2 coats of clear Briwax was used to finish the legs.  Briwax yellows the finish a bit which aged the paint nicely.  Between coats of Briwax I sanded through the paint on some of the edges with 100 grit paper to show wear.

In regards to flattening the top, another technique would be take a pencil (soft lead) and lightly draw some big lazy squiggles across the top - enough so that there is a line every few inches. Then, use either a jointer plane or a belt sander to flatten the top until the squiggles are gone. The lines give you a reference to what is high and what is low - and when you are finished in a particular area. With the jointer plane, you want to stroke at about 45 degrees to the grain of the wood, and with a belt sander, you want to keep the sander flat on it's platen (don't let it tilt and dig in) and use wide, arcing, sideways sweeps with very light pressure - again at about 45 degrees to the grain of the wood - never let the sander start or stop when in contact with the surface. In both cases, finish with light sanding with either a belt sander, linear sander, or by hand, stroking in the direction of the grain. Palm sanders can leave swirls.

For the legs, we purchased black steel gas pipes which had to be measured and cut to size.  After the steel pipes were cut they had to be manually threaded with a pipe threader.  Gas fittings were used to connect the piping. This step resulted in a few choice bad words, it seems you can actually get them already threaded. But why should we take the easy route, when we can make ourselves crazy instead.

Table saws, band saws, and radial-arm saws are examples of woodworking machines that are most often used exclusively in a wood shop because they are far too large and cumbersome to be portable. Even though they're confined to the shop, these workhorses are so useful that it makes sense to complete a woodworking project in the shop and carry the finished piece to the location or job site where it will be used or installed.

Some friends of ours have been wanting a DIY farmhouse table for some time now. After hearing about their shopping trip and the prices they were looking at spending on one I felt obligated to step in and make this one of my next DIY projects. My buddy Jake has no experience with power tools whatsoever, bless his heart. So, you’re in for a special treat with this one as you will get to see Jake build this table from scratch with no power tool experience! With a little guidance from me of course.

You’ll need to buy 4×4, 2×10, and 2×4 boards for this project. These boards can be found at your local lumber yard. Take your time to find quality boards that are straight and have little warp. First, I built the table top out of 2x10s. I used 5 2×10’s for the main part of the table and a 2×10 for each breadboard end. Ana’s plans call for four main boards, but I wanted a little larger area to spread out. I used a 12″ miter saw to make all of the cuts. I cut the 5 boards to 69 inches long.

While the best look of modern homestead table has been around for a short time, another harvest of farmhouse style feasting tables has been showing up of late. They are an incredible approach to join and investigate a generally present day room. The long pieces of crude wood are emotional without being overwhelming. Many combine press with recovered wood for a modern curve that is tough without being to massive.
